Puppy Pictures: the eighth week!

April 24 - April 30 (most recent pictures first)

Structural evals. Unfortunately we had to do these indoors this year because of rain, which means I didn't get any great pictures of these two! It's a shame because our friend Judy always presents them so beautifully.

Athena. The left side photo is the original, and the right side one has been filtered so you can actually see the puppy.

Artemis. The left side photo is the original, and the right side one has been filtered so you can actually see the puppy. The camera angle isn't nearly as good on this shot.

The girls. (If their eyes look weird, it's not because they are possessed or on drugs or anything, but rather because I used a red-eye eliminator to remove the green camera flash reflections in their eyes. This series of photos has been very frustrating and I hope we never have to do structural evals indoors again!)

Athena is absolutely intrigued by baby chickens! Artemis came over a couple times to see what was going on, but was not impressed. Her thoughts were easy to read: "Why on earth are you tormenting those poor birds? Leave them alone and come play with me!!"

Athena and the chicks. For anyone uncomfortable with this video, please note that the chicks are not upset and are safely on the inside of the X-pen (if they had been upset or unsafe, I would have put an immediate stop to the game!) If you don't enjoy watching a baby puppy's natural prey drive awaken, I get that, but if that is the case, please be aware that the Shiba Inu (bred for centuries specifically to be a tough, bold, independent hunting dog) is probably not the right breed of dog for you! What I see in this video is 1) a very joyful puppy, and 2) a lot of potential for dog sports like Coursing, Barn Hunt, K9 Nose Work, Tracking, etc.
